Ingredients:
For the crust:
- 2 ½ cups (310g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
- 6–8 tbsp ice water
For the filling:
- 6 cups (750g) thinly sliced apples
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions:
- Make the crust: Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Divide into two disks; chill for 1 hour.
- Prepare the filling: Mix apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out one disk for the bottom crust and line a 9-inch pie dish.
- Add filling, then cover with rolled-out top crust. Seal edges and cut slits for steam.
- Bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before serving.
