Ingredients:
For the crust:

  • 2 ½ cups (310g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

For the filling:

  • 6 cups (750g) thinly sliced apples
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Make the crust: Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Divide into two disks; chill for 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the filling: Mix apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out one disk for the bottom crust and line a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Add filling, then cover with rolled-out top crust. Seal edges and cut slits for steam.
  5. Bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before serving.
